A 31-year-old man who was seriously injured in a stabbing in the center of Amsterdam last night died in hospital from his injuries. The police report this. A 55-year-old man has been arrested.
The stabbing took place around 8 p.m. on Oudezijds Voorburgwal in a shelter for the homeless. The 31-year-old man was so seriously injured that he underwent surgery on the spot, according to local news channel AT5. A police spokesperson maintains that medical procedures have been performed.
The fatal stabbing was probably preceded by an argument between three people who used the shelter. Detectives are still investigating what exactly happened.
In addition to the 31-year-old man, a third man was also injured, but did not require hospital treatment.
