Three people were shot dead in the town of Falls Township near the American city of Philadelphia. The 26-year-old suspect barricaded himself in a home in a nearby city after the shooting. After hours of encirclement he surrendered.
Police say the victims are his stepmother, teenage sister and the mother of his two children. The shooter’s motive is unclear. According to American media, the suspect had come into contact with the police in the past. The man may have been homeless.
The suspect first shot his stepmother and sister dead at a house yesterday morning local time and fled in a stolen car. He drove to another place and killed the mother of his children.
People near where the shooting occurred were evacuated. A parade in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Ireland’s national holiday and also celebrated in the US, was canceled because of the shootings.
