The police received a report on Saturday evening that a woman had been hit just before the Munkebotn Tunnel in Sandviksveien.
The collision must have occurred in connection with crossing the road. The woman, who was in her 20s, was confirmed dead at 7.45pm, the police said in a press release.
She was hit by a car. The driver is a 19-year-old man. There was also a male passenger in the car.
– In shock
“The driver was taken to the Bergen emergency department for medical attention, very upset and in shock after the incident. No suspicion of influence on the driver,” the police write in the press release.
The incident happened on the center side of the tunnel, which was closed.
– We have not received any information about the time, but it may take a while. The accident team has arrived, says traffic operator Marius Næs at the Road Traffic Center.
Crime scene technicians in place
“The National Road Administration’s accident team has been routinely notified and is on its way to the scene of the accident. The police are now carrying out technical and tactical investigations at the scene. Criminal technicians from the West police district have also been called out,” the police write.
The accident caused quite a queue at the site. Cars driving towards the city center were told to drive via the Fløyfjell tunnel.
“The road at the scene of the accident is currently closed. This will be kept closed until the technical investigations have been carried out by the accident team and crime technicians,” the police write.
