“Fatal Influenza Case in Santa Cruz: Urgent Call for Vaccinations to Prevent Spread”

A 30-year-old man died of influenza in Santa Cruz. The case is the first in the department and there are also 11 patients in intensive care, informed the Epidemiology manager of the Departmental Health Service, Carlos Hurtado.

The victim had a basic pathology, and was not vaccinated, lamented the health professional. “It does not call for reflection again that the vaccine is essential for the prevention of serious cases and to avoid deaths from the disease,” he said.

In Santa Cruz there are 31 hospitalized patients, of which 21 do not have a flu vaccine. Another 11 are in intensive care and eight do not have the immunization dose against this virus.

So far this year, 776 cases of influenza were reported in the department of Santa Cruz, added Hurtado, who insisted that the population go to health centers to receive the vaccine against this virus. //agc
