In Suriname, another road death was recorded on Saturday afternoon after a collision. A Toyota Mark X and a moped collided hard with each other on Padiweg near Bananenweg.
The moped rider PB (35) was seriously injured and died on the spot. The collision was so violent that one of the victim’s legs was severed
The vehicle driven by a 37-year-old man drove on the Padiweg and was crossed by the moped rider who was driving on Bananenweg.
The Jarikaba police received the report of the incident and went to the scene to investigate. A doctor who was called in determined the death of the victim, after which the body was seized and taken to the mortuary after coordination with the Surinamese Public Prosecution Service.
The driver has a valid driver’s license and was not under the influence of alcohol.
Police seized both vehicles for re-inspection. The investigation continues.
