Turangga Railway (KA). collided with the local Bandung Raya train in Cicalengka, Bandung Regency, this morning. The accident killed four train officers.
The victims who died consisted of a driver, assistant driver, flight attendant and security. KAI also said that there were 287 passengers on the Turangga train and 191 passengers on the Bandung Raya local train when the incident occurred. KAI stated that 22 people suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.

Testimony of the Turangga Train Conductor
The Turangga Train (KA) conductor, Diki Ramdani, revealed his testimony when the train he was traveling in collided with the Greater Bandung Local Train on Jalan Cicalengka-Haurpugur, Bandung Regency, this morning. Diki said that when the incident occurred, a loud sound was heard.
“There was a loud noise. After that I don’t remember anything. When it happened it was blank, I didn’t realize it,” said Diki when met at Cicalengka Regional Hospital, Bandung Regency, as reported by detikJabarFriday (5/1/2024).
Diki revealed that the collision hit the back of the Turangga KA locomotive. At the time of the incident, said Diki, the Turangga train passengers immediately got out of the train.
“Thank God, (the passengers) are safe. When they arrive at the crime scene, they will immediately realize it, and the rest they won’t remember,” he said.
Diki said that nearby security guards immediately took him to hospital after the incident. Diki admitted that he suffered minor injuries.
“Yes, I only had minor injuries. I was escorted here by the security guard earlier,” he explained.
Passenger Stories about Unusual Things Before the Collision
A passenger on the Bandung Raya local train, Dudi Purwadi (52), told of an unusual thing that happened before the collision between the Bandung local train and the Turangga train. He said that usually the Turangga train passes first before the Bandung local train runs, but that did not happen this morning.
“I was woken up by my son, so my son and I were together. ‘Well, I want to enter Cicalengka Station’. I said, ‘No, Sis, the Surabaya (Turanga) train hasn’t passed yet’. ‘No, Dad, the train is already running,’ said “My child. I kept waiting for the signal from Cicalengka Station to open, but then the Turangga train came, just bad,” said Dudi after undergoing treatment at Cicalengka Regional Hospital, as reported by detikJabarFriday (5/1/2024).
Dudi said that the Bandung local train was running slowly at that time. He suspected this happened because the train was waiting for a signal at the station.
“So our local train is waiting for a signal and hasn’t allowed the train I’m on to enter. So it hasn’t come in yet. That’s why my child woke me up. So the Surabaya train hasn’t yet entered the station. Even though the Surabaya train is usually the priority every morning (passes first),” he said .
Dudi said sitting in seat number three from the front. He admitted that he hit the chair in front of him. Dudi also admitted that he saw the driver who was trapped when he was evacuated.
“When I saw it, the driver was still stuck. I was passing by the Turangga train. But I saw that someone on the Turangga train was also stuck. Right behind the locomotive. The thing is, the Turangga crew were all gathered behind the locomotive,” he said.
