At the Neuhof pier near the Köhlbrand Bridge in the port of Hamburg, a mooring boat collided with a push convoy on Wednesday evening and sank. The boat was salvaged on Thursday and rescue workers found a male body.
This is probably the boat driver, who has been missing since the ship accident. The identification of the dead person in forensic medicine is still ongoing, a police spokesman said on Thursday afternoon. However, the police had previously stated that they considered it impossible for the missing person to be rescued alive.

The push convoy and the mooring boat collided near the Köhlbrand Bridge shortly after 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening. The small mooring boat had nothing to oppose the heavy push convoy. These boats are so small that they are operated by only one crew member. The mooring boat was so badly damaged that it sank immediately.
Divers and ships involved in search
The fire brigade, DLRG and police were deployed at the scene of the accident for hours with divers, ships, drones and a helicopter. The search was expanded from the Köhlbrand to the main stream of the Elbe. The bank areas were also searched. The shipwreck could be located at a depth of 16 meters; there was initially no trace of the boat’s driver. The search was called off shortly after 10 p.m., also because the current made the operation dangerous for the divers.
