The victims were rushed to Brooklyn Hospital Center and New York-Presbyterian Hospital Brooklyn Methodist, where the older man died and the three injured were stabilized. Their names have not been mentioned nor the possible links between them.
Firefighters must determine the cause of the fire. “There was a slight mess inside, but that’s why we call the bosses [de bomberos] to conduct an investigation into why (the fire) started and why they couldn’t get out,” Duggan said. “It appears that (the victims) were trying to get out when they were overcome” by the flames.
In a similar tragedy, last week a woman tragically died at age 86 when a fire devastated her home in Queens (NYC) and also left three injured.
In early January, a 5-year-old boy died and three other adults were injured in a fire in The Bronx (NYC). It was the third similar tragedy with a total of 6 minors killed in residential fires in New York City (2) and Connecticut (4) in the first days of 2024.
