Two people died in a fire in an apartment building in Berlin. They had jumped out of the building to escape the fire.
According to German media, the fire had broken out in a house on the twelfth floor of a complex in the Kreuzberg district. The fire service tried to resuscitate the victims, but to no avail.
The two victims are said to be tenants, a man and a woman. The man is said to have hung from a balcony for about twenty minutes before he fell. A collection cushion from the fire brigade was not quite ready at the time, so his fall was not slowed down enough. Both victims died at the scene of the accident.
In addition to the two deaths, several others were also injured, according to the fire service.
