A 69-year-old woman was killed by an alligator in the southeastern United States while walking her dog near a lagoon bordering a golf course, local police said.
This resident of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, was found unconscious on Tuesday morning at the edge of a pond after being attacked by a crocodile, Beaufort police said in a statement.
Rescue operations were disrupted by the animal”who was watching“His body,” she said.
It is “the second fatal alligator attack in the county (…) in less than a year“.
In August 2022, an 88-year-old woman was attacked and killed by an alligator near her home.
These reptiles are common in the southeastern United States, especially in the state of Florida, where they can be seen crossing the street or soaking up the sun on golf club turf.
