Two people died on Sunday, October 13, after a serious accident on the Provincialeweg N59 near Nieuwerkerk.
The accident happened around 2:50 am. Two passenger vehicles collided head-on. Several emergency services arrived on the scene, but this was of no avail to a 25-year-old woman from Middelharnis. The other victim is a 22-year-old man from Nieuwerkerk. He was trapped in his car. The fire brigade freed him and he was then rushed to hospital. He also died there from his injuries. The circumstances behind it are being investigated.
