A total of six people, spread over three cars, were involved in the accident, which happened in a 90-zone.
The two who lost their lives in the accident were in separate cars, operations manager Kai Eriksen in the Nordland police district told NRK.
– There has been a head-on collision with two passenger cars. There were two people in one car. There was one person in the other car. Unfortunately, one person has died in the car with two people. It is also unfortunately the person who was in the other car, he says.
The next of kin have been notified.
A third person is seriously injured, and has been flown to hospital by air ambulance.

Three cars involved
One car drove into the ditch while two other cars collided head-on.
The three occupants of the car that drove into the ditch escaped unhurt from the accident.
– The three who were on board the car are physically unharmed, says the operations manager.
The accident happened at Bleiknesmo, around 25 kilometers south of Rognan.
The police and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration are working on investigations at the site.

E6 still closed
The E6 has been closed past the accident site for many hours, which has led to long queues.
Crime scene technicians from the police and the accident team of the National Road Administration will investigate the accident scene.
– We hope to be able to open the road before too long. The police, the National Road Administration’s accident team and car rescuers are working on the scene now, says Eriksen.
