One man died and another was seriously injured in a collision on a federal highway. The driver of the other car fled, although he is not believed to have caused the accident.
Wehrheim – After the fatal traffic accident on a federal highway near Wehrheim (Hochtaunus district) on Wednesday morning, a man who was presumably involved has turned himself in to the police. The reasons for his hit-and-run are still unclear, said a police spokesman. The police had been searching for the hit-and-run driver before the 37-year-old from Frankfurt am Main contacted the police through his lawyer on the evening of the fatal collision.
A 41-year-old driver died in the collision near Saalburg. His 59-year-old passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries. According to the current state of the investigation, the 41-year-old attempted to overtake and collided head-on with the oncoming car of the 37-year-old. The 41-year-old died at the scene of the accident. His passenger was taken to hospital by rescue helicopter.
