A 23-year-old motorcyclist had a fatal accident on Saturday afternoon. As the police said in their report, she fell in a left turn and crashed into the guardrail.
According to initial findings about the course of the accident, the young woman from the Kitzingen district was on the 2260 state road between Astheim and Prosselsheim (district of Würzburg) at around 11.30 a.m. In a left-hand bend, she fell at the level of the parking lot at the Vogelsburg for reasons that were not yet clear and hit the guardrail. As a result, any help came too late for the woman.
The motorcycle slipped into the oncoming traffic and crashed into a Mercedes from Würzburg driving there. The airbag in the car triggered, the two occupants were slightly injured and brought to a clinic by the ambulance service.
The fire brigades from Escherndorf and Volkach ensured fire protection, caught leaking operating materials and cleaned the street. Due to the accident recording, the state road and an adjacent cycle path had to be completely closed until around 3 p.m. The traffic was diverted via Astheim and Escherndorf. The volunteer workers were looked after by emergency chaplains after the assignment. An expert came to the site by order of the Würzburg public prosecutor’s office.
