Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A traffic accident occurred near the Bawen toll exit, Semarang, causing casualties. As of the time this news was published, 4 people had died and 18 other people had suffered minor to serious injuries.
Quoting Detikcom, the fatal accident occurred at around 18.34 WIB. It is suspected that the truck had brake failure and hit a number of vehicles that were stopped at a red light.
“Until now, at 21.25 WIB, there have been four deaths and 18 injured, the injured are being treated at At Tin Hospital and Ken Saras Hospital,” said Head of Traffic Division of the Central Java Regional Police, Commissioner Tegar Satrio Wicaksono, while at the location, quoting Detikcom, Saturday (23/9/2023).
“For the vehicles involved, one truck and four four-wheeled units, then 20 two-wheeled vehicles,” he continued.
Even so, his party is still waiting for the results of the crime scene investigation to find out for sure the cause of the accident. Crime scene investigation will continue tomorrow morning.
“We are still carrying out crime scene investigations, it is currently suspected that the truck unit’s vehicle failed, but we are still carrying out further investigations regarding the cause of the accident to be certain,” he explained.
Currently, traffic flow has returned to normal. All vehicles involved in the accident have also been evacuated by officers.
“Later (the crime scene investigation) will continue tomorrow morning, which will be finished tonight because everyone has been evacuated,” he said.
