Yesterday evening a tractor came off the road on a side street in the Gläng area in Schötz. The vehicle overturned several times. The tractor driver was thrown off the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was flown to a hospital by a rescue helicopter, where he died some time later.
On Tuesday, June 30, 2020, shortly after 6 p.m., a tractor driver was driving his veteran vehicle on a side street in Schötz, Gläng area. For unexplained reasons, his right front wheel got beyond the right edge of the road. Due to a steering correction, the vehicle finally left the road. The tractor overturned several times in the steeply sloping terrain and the driver was thrown by the tractor.
He suffered life-threatening injuries. He was looked after by the emergency services 144 on site and flown to a hospital with an Alpine Air Ambulance (AAA) helicopter. The 55-year-old man died there on the same evening.
The vehicle came to a standstill after around 40 meters on a forecourt. The fire brigade Schötz was called up due to the leaked liquids.
The damage to property is likely to be approximately CHF 50,000.
The investigation is being conducted by the Sursee public prosecutor.
