Kollam: KSRTC. A young man and a young woman who were bikers were killed after being hit by a Swift bus. The deceased have been identified as Shruti (25), daughter of Kavalam Cherukara Ethithara Sabu, and Mohammad Nihal (25) in Kozhikode’s Nanmanda Cheekilode Mele Pilatottam. Relatives said that the accident occurred when the two friends were returning from attending a friend’s wedding in Kollam.

Eyewitnesses said that the accident occurred when the bus, which was going from Ernakulam to Thiruvananthapuram, took a right turn near the divider and came in the wrong direction instead of going ahead and rounding at Alteramood junction. Both the locals rushed to Kollam district hospital in a bus. Muhammad Nihal died on the way. Shruti was taken to Paripally Medical College Hospital but could not be saved. Shaktikulangara police registered a case.
Mohammad Nihal is a designer at Accurate Engineers, Ernakulam. Father: Abdul Jamal. Mother: Sajida. Brothers: Mufail and Muflih. Shruti is a temporary employee in a private hospital in Ernakulam. Mother: Stannis. Brother: Sourav. After the post-mortem, the dead bodies of both were taken home. Shruti’s funeral will be held on Wednesday 11th at her residence in Cherukara.
