Who is behind the carnival in Franconia

Originally, “Fastnacht in Franken” is the ceremonial meeting of the Franken Fastnacht Association. It has been broadcast on television since its first issue – and quickly became a hit with audiences.

Permanent stars and newcomers

For over 25 years are Volker Heissmann and Martin Rassau alias Waltraud and Mariechen already there – real veterans of the popular programs. “Putzfraa” Ines Procter, Michl Müller and Sebastian Reich with hand puppet Amanda have also been at carnival in Franconia for years. The a cappella band Viva Voce has been a newcomer for three years and their performance has also become a permanent part of the programme.

Performances by comedians from Lower Franconia and Würzburg

The Fastnacht-Verband Franken mainly brings many people from Lower Franconia to the stage. Michl Müller comes from Bad Kissingen, Ines Procter from Erlabrunn in the district of Würzburg, Matthias Walz from Karlstadt in the district of Main-Spessart. Sebastian Reich comes directly from Würzburg. But among the most popular acts are comedians from neighboring Middle Franconia, such as the two people from Fürth, Volker Heissmann and Martin Rassau.

Why did Bernd Handel quit?

Bernd Handel moderated the show for 16 years, in 2021 for the last mail. He justifies his departure by saying that it was the right time and that a new face of the show would be good. Just one of two great news from the past few years: The “Altneihauser Feierwehrkapell’n”, meanwhile indispensable in Veitshöchheim, was completely eliminated in 2022. The year before, only the commander Norbert Neugirg had appeared due to the corona. In 2023, the troops from the Upper Palatinate will return to Veitshöchheim and want to “endure the Franconian people again”.

What is the name of the new session president of Fastnacht in Franken?

Christoph Maul from Schillingsfürst (Ansbach district) has chaired the Elferrat since 2022.

The success story of the cult show Fastnacht in Franconia

In the first year, the spectacle didn’t come from Veitshöchheim, but – who would have known? – from Lichtenfels. Since 1988, the Veitshöchheimer Mainfrankensäle have remained the backdrop. The show reached its peak in terms of audience figures in 2017 with 4.47 viewers, and around three million people have tuned in in recent years. This makes the cult show the most popular show of all third-party TV programs in Germany for years.

Tickets for an audience seat

Anyone who would like to experience the performance live may be wondering: Where are the tickets sold and how much does a ticket for the carnival in Franconia cost?
