PROHABA.CO – For astrophysicist have discovered a star known to be moving at high speed around the black hole at the center of the Milky Way galaxy.
Experts also call it the fastest star ever discovered. The star, named S4716, completes an orbit around the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A* (SGR A*) in just about four years.
That is, the star is moving at a very fast speed, which is about 29 million km per hour.
During orbiting the black hole, which is estimated to be 23.5 million km in diameter, S4716 is even able to approach Sagittarius A* to a distance of only 150 million km.
While this may seem very far away, it is relatively close in cosmic terms.
Quoted from Space, Thursday (7/7/2022) the star S4716 itself is part of a group of stars called the S cluster that orbits close to the center of the galaxy and the supermassive black hole of the Milky Way.

All of these S cluster stars move very fast, but vary in brightness and mass.
The discovery of the fastest star around a black hole so close to Sgr A* could change our understanding of how our galaxy evolves and especially of the fast-moving central star.
“S4716’s short-period orbit is quite confusing.
Stars do not form easily near black holes.
