Now the career of the sprinter from Lengfeld has quietly ended. – Always one step ahead: Jonas Wohlfart, who started for Rimpar, also ran away from the competition at the Lower Franconian Championships in Hsbach in May 2019. Photo: Mathis Schfer Up until the summer of last year, Jonas Wohlfart ran everything in short distances. Now the career of the brisk sprinter from Lengfeld has ended quietly, but primarily not because of Corona. Because Wohlfart, who recently started for Rimpar, had planned his farewell for a long time. “Since 2017 I have been struggling with a muscle injury that kept throwing me back,” says the 26-year-old. He also started a PhD position at the University of Wrzburg towards the end of the same year. “As a result, my priorities have shifted somewhat.” The 2019 summer season should be his farewell tour. Wohlfart had committed to this early on. In retrospect, he couldn’t have chosen the end of his career better. In July of last year, the sprinter at the Rosenau Stadium in Augsburg became the Bavarian champion for the first time over the 100 meters in the photo finish against his closest competitor from Frth. “This closed a circle for me,” explains the pharmacist, who is at home in Lengfeld Pilziggrund. Three years earlier, Wohlfart had already been Bavaria’s fastest over the 200 meters. Only he could not fulfill the dream of the German championship. Honored by the district administrator for his successful career At a sports ceremony before the corona lockdown, the sprinter was honored by the outgoing district administrator Eberhard Nu for his successful career on the tartan track. Like so many boys, he started as a soccer player at TSV Lengfeld. “But it quickly became clear that this was not for me. After doing gymnastics, I ended up doing athletics,” Wohlfart recalls. In 2011 he was Lower Franconia’s fastest sprinter over 60 meters, two years later Wohlfart became Lower Franconian master over the 100 and 200 meters for the first time. He started for the LAZ district of Wrzburg, in recent years he was registered with the associated club DJK Rimpar. Historic victories Its athletics pioneer, Otwin Hack, chose deeply in the chronicles until the beginning of the 20th century and discovered astonishing things. “Jonas is the first Lower Franconian sprinter to manage to be the fastest in the district seven times in a row from 2013 to 2019, not just over the 100 but also over the 200 meters,” reports Hack. The later Olympic four-man bob pusher Christian Rasp from TV Etwashausen managed this piece over 100 meters between 2006 and 2011 “only” six times. Erich Mller from FC 05 Schweinfurt did this five times between 1951 and 1955. In the past there were only athletes over 200 meters who were fastest in the series of Lower Franconia for three years. Best time over 100 meters is 10.80 seconds Wohlfarts best time over 100 meters is 10.80 seconds. He even ran it several times. The mid-twenties sprinted the 200 meters in 2016 in 21.56 seconds. The former German youth champion Annika Hohnheiser then coached him in Rimpar. “I owe a lot to you and my other trainers and companions,” says Wohlfart, who works as an hourly pharmacist in Lengfeld. These days he can put himself in the shoes of his former sports colleagues. Corona completely messed up the 2020 season; after all, the competitive athletes have been allowed to train on the field since this week. Even Wohlfart can’t let go of sports entirely: “I still run regularly and want to continue participating in the spa at Straenlufen.” – Lengfeld Rimpar Jrg Rieger 1st football club Schweinfurt 1905 pharmacist Eberhard Nu successes Erich Mller Football player Landrte Pharmacist athlete Trainers Lower Franconia – – – Related posts:Car Rolls Into Garage: Mistaken Report of Traffic Accident in DrammenSurge in Animal-Related Accidents in New York State: Fall Season Brings Added DangerLeader of Mechelen scouts group transports 27 (!) young people in ...
