This afternoon it is already time for the ‘second batch of showers’, says meteorologist Maurice Middendorp of Buienradar. “Halfway through the afternoon the showers come in from the west. The further inland they get, the more active they become. Because that’s where the most heat is.”
50 millimeters in a day
It will be short and heavy, Middendorp knows, because the showers will leave around 6 p.m.

Is that it then? Certainly not. Hold on tight: tomorrow there will be around 50 millimeters of rain in some places. Middendorp: “In the Netherlands, on average, 56 mm falls in May. Locally, therefore, a monthly amount of rain can fall tomorrow.”
It’s getting colder
So no terrace weather for a while, but that water is nice against the drought. “But even after today there will still be drought, but the sharp edges will be gone for a while.”
A large amount of rain is not the best for drought. In fact, on average there is more rainfall, but there is also more drought. You can see how that works in the video below:

There will be no more massive downpours over the weekend. Well, Saturday morning still a bit inland, ‘after that it will be a lot drier and the sun will also show itself,’ says Middendorp. “It won’t be very bad. Mostly dry, but a bit colder than the past few days.”
That is not surprising, by the way. Normal for this time of year is a temperature of about 18 degrees. That will be on Saturday, Sunday it will be 21 degrees. “We will not get those 25 from yesterday in the near future.”
