A large screen, a dark hall and comfortable armchairs: the cinema entices you to laugh, dream and share in the excitement of the realm of moving images, especially in the dark season.
Nidda (em). It’s getting cold, foggy, uncomfortable outside, the playgrounds are losing their appeal – what can children do on the weekend instead?
The Lumos cinema in Nidda offers a solution to exactly this gap and offers a family day every second Sunday of the month at 11 a.m. with particularly cheap admission.
Attractively made films that younger children enjoy are shown. In most cases, the productions have no age restrictions on volunteer self-control; even small siblings can come along, accompanied by their parents.
“It will be Christmassy on Sunday, November 10th at 11 a.m.,” reveals Anne Wingefeld, who is responsible for social media in the Lumos team and also the organization of family days.
Visitors young and old can look forward to the third film in the reindeer series, “Niko – Journey to the Northern Lights”. Many children know Niko and his friends, Julius the flying squirrel and Wilma the weasel, from the two previous films.
The cuddly reindeer, brought into motion with high-quality animation, has a big wish and emulates his father Prancer. He is one of the particularly fit flying reindeer that pulls Santa Claus’ sleigh. And right now there is a place available in this group – maybe for Niko?
Where is Santa Claus’ sleigh?
But then the reindeer girl Stella also applies. Who will be chosen? And yet the two become friends instead of opponents, and Niko even secretly shows Stella Santa’s sleigh.
The next day, when it was supposed to be loaded, the skid vehicle disappeared. Stolen? Spelled away? And what will the children on earth say if Christmas is canceled? And there is another exciting moment: a raffle with three vouchers.
Children aged three and over can also get to know the fast reindeer in the “My First Cinema Visit” series on December 15th. Then there is the first film in the series “Niko takes off”.
Musical? Fantasy? Action story or adventure film – or all together? This can be decided on Sunday, December 8th at 11 a.m. “Moana” was already a huge film success in 2016. Now in the second part, a mysterious call from her ancestors lures the girl with magical powers to travel through time. Unexpected adventures are to be had, Moana is on the dangerous expanses of Oceania.
The film was produced at Walt Disney Animation Studios. It goes without saying that a little snacking makes going to the cinema really enjoyable.
The popcorn supply has been provided, the slush machine is running, and the sweets on the pick and mix stand are rainbow-colored.
News for fans of monumental films
If you’re really hungry, the lounge is the right place to go with tarte flambée, hamburgers, Kaiserschmarren and more. But program planners have even more surprises in store for the darkest time of the year. During the Christmas holidays there will be other activities that are interesting for families with children.
“Wicked” is the story of an unusual friendship. Magical challenges lead the witches Elphaba and Glinda to the Wizard of Oz. Well-known actors such as Marissa Bode and Jeff Goldblum can be seen in this film.
Immerse yourself in the world of “The Lion King”? The film “Mufasa” comes out at the beginning of December, takes you back to the savannah, and the action surrounding the royal rock continues. Sophisticated 3D animation increases the suggestive power of the images.
Friends of the monumental historical film “Gladiator” from 2000 with Russel Crowe in the lead role can rejoice. There is a new sequel, again directed by Ridley Scott, which will be shown at Lumos from November 14th. On November 17th there will be another delicacy: rolls with crusty roast or a vegetarian alternative.
If you prefer comedies, you can soon see Christoph Maria Herbst in “The Nickname”. The whiskey tasting on December 2nd is completely booked. And the big New Year’s Eve gala with catering is already being planned. To keep track of things: the flyer for December is available at the end of November.
