“Wuselkiste children” experienced an exciting and educational project week
As part of the state-funded program “Every child has their own art,” the “Wuselkiste” after-school care center was able to recruit circus and fire educator Janni Brand for a project week at the beginning of November. The aim of this project was to introduce the after-school children step by step to the element of fire.
To introduce the topic, Janni Brand had the children talk about their previous experiences with fire. This showed how different experiences are when dealing with fire.
The children were divided into different groups according to age and the fire educator knew how to adapt his offer to the group accordingly. He always introduced the children to the necessary basic knowledge and discussed safety aspects with them.
On this basis, the children set off together to the “Land of Fire”, because only there and only with a fire instructor were they allowed to dare to approach fire so daringly.
So the first graders first approached the fire of a candle. Janni Brand captivated the children with questions such as: “Do I dare put my finger through the flame?” “What happens if I put a glass upside down over the candle?” and then let the children carry out the questions in practice.
Older children tried out a torch and bravely ran their hand through the flame.
Then the focus was on making a fire for a campfire: “What do you need for it?” “How can you create a fire from a captured spark?” “How do you make it grow into a big fire?” This also became practical with the Implemented with children, of course with delicious stick bread for everyone.
At the end came the big highlight for the children: they were allowed to try their hand at fire-breathing. This was practiced beforehand with water, then a herbal powder was blown into the flame. The effect was overwhelming!
Janni Brand masterfully knew how to introduce the children to the element of fire, impart knowledge to them and inspire them. In between, he showed the amazed children little fire shows that delighted the children.
