Faryatiev’s Fantasies: A Heartbreaking Soviet Cinema Classic

The vile act was never forgiven.

Soviet cinema loved family dramas and the theme of love. There have been many heartbreaking stories filmed. Viewers still watch one of them and hotly discuss it.

Ilya Averbakh’s painting “Faryatiev’s Fantasies” leaves few people indifferent. Some call the film too heavy and boring, others admit that they love it for its believability and amazing acting.

The main roles in the project went to Andrei Mironov and Marina Neelova. The artist portrayed the awkward dentist Pavel Faryatiev, who is head over heels in love with music teacher Alexandra. The doctor cannot count on reciprocity.

By some miracle, he almost achieves consent to the wedding, but then the bride’s ex appears on the horizon, and, forgetting about everything, she rushes to him. Shurochka was never forgiven for this act of a woman in love. It was she who was recognized as the main rubbish of Soviet cinema: a person who was reliable in all respects fell in love with her, but she did not appreciate him.

“She thinks only about herself, stupid, self-confident, short-sighted,” — the Zen channel “Gallop Across Europe” writes about the unfortunate woman.

Internet users mostly agreed with this point of view.

“Alexandra looks so pathetic that I feel something like disgust towards her,” – says one of the comments on the Internet.
