Farmers with tractors on their way to Schiphol ‘to buy up the airport’ | Inland

That is what farmer Art Eshuis from Diffelen in Overijssel told the regional news channel RTV Oost. According to these farmers, buying out agricultural companies is not the solution to the nitrogen problem. “Even if you were to clean up all the farmers, there would still be a nitrogen surplus,” explains Art. “Many rules are simply not feasible, so something is going wrong with the standard. We hope that this will land with the government today.”

The farmers hope that they can work together with the airport, because they are in the same boat after all.

“If Schiphol wants to use its influence with the government to change the rules, that would be great. Because the way it is now, that all companies have to lock down because they do not meet the nitrogen rules, is not the solution either.”
