Saturday’s farmers’ protest began around 5 a.m. at the intersection of ul. Płocka from Kasprzak. The protesters came to Warsaw on tractors. In total, a dozen or so tractors are taking part in the protest.
The protesters scattered, among others, at the intersection cabbage.
Farmers informed about their protest on social media of AGROunia.
Farmers demand, inter alia, freezing loan repayments and increasing the role of food produced in Poland on the domestic market.
Today you can see that Law and Justice is over. That they have no idea what to do in Poland, said the leader of AGROunia, Michał Kołodziejczak, in RMF FM, adding that “he expects that the roads will be blocked by thousands of machines”.
Photos from the protest are already appearing on social media.
Tractors don’t run very fast, so there will be difficulties for sure. We cannot rule it out. This is why the strike is noticed, so let’s expect difficulties in the city – said Kołodziejczak at the station.
The farmers’ representative believes that the government has already made many mistakes and cannot afford to make more mistakes.
In turn, MP Stefan Krajewski emphasized at Friday’s press conference in the Sejm that Polish farmers feel more and more the lack of agricultural policy conducted by the government of the United Right. – After the rule of the minister of “sleepyhead”, the minister of “talker” came, the minister of “talker” left, there is a ghost minister – noted the PSL MP.
According to him, the current Minister of Agriculture, Grzegorz Puda, does not react to the problems of Polish farmers. – Trucks with pigs of unknown origin are entering the country and there is no reaction, no answer to what worries Polish farmers more and more – stressed Krajewski.
According to him, an international scandal would be the fact that “if such transports left Poland”. – However, it is not mentioned when such transports enter Poland – noted the PSL MP.
Krajewski emphasized that “every farmer today has to pay up to 1 kilogram of meat produced in Poland, regardless of whether it is poultry, pork or beef”. – And there is no reaction of the Ministry of Agriculture, there is no reaction of the relevant services to what is happening – said the politician.
He also informed that a farmers’ strike would take place in Warsaw on Saturday. – The tractors will go to the streets of Warsaw. This is another edition of the protest, because farmers do not know what to expect from these governments – stressed Krajewski.
MP Andrzej Grzyb said that farmers from Wielkopolska informed him that the pigs in this voivodeship are “priceless”. – Not that it is priceless in the sense that it is some kind of wealth, but simply there is no price for this product of animal production – said the MP.
According to him, pig prices in Wielkopolska range from PLN 3 to PLN 3.5 per kilogram. – This is the lowest price in the last dozen or so years – emphasized Grzyb.
He pointed out that in Wielkopolska it is an area where ASF occurred, therefore the prices of pigs offered to farmers oscillate below PLN 3. – Turkey producers indicate that the last two or three tosses of the turkeys they produced were without profit. As a result, many henhouses will be unfilled – added Grzyb.
In his opinion, this is a difficult situation, because everything happens at a time when the prices of grains and the prices of feed components are rising.
The deputy head of the parliamentary committee on agriculture and rural development, Kazimierz Gwiazdowski (PiS), emphasized in an interview that the government is trying to support Polish farmers. – And I think that it supports farmers sufficiently – he assessed.
He informed that next week there will be a meeting of the parliamentary committee on agriculture with the participation of Minister Puda, devoted to ASF and other problems of farmers. – Recently, we have also asked Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki as the agriculture committee to increase funds for agriculture, because we believe that this industry should be subsidized, especially in this difficult time – emphasized Gwiazdowski.
As he added, a resolution was also passed, “where farmers applied for co-financing from the covid funds in connection with certain income that they would lose this year”. – These applications were accepted at the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture and are to be paid by the end of the year to farmers – said Gwiazdowski.
