Farmers: Payments of almost €2.2 billion by the end of 2024 – 2024-05-13 01:47:06

The money that will be credited to the accounts of farmers and breeders by the end of 2024 amounts to almost 2.2 billion euros, as shown by the planning of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, in collaboration with OPEKEPE.

Specifically, the 2,162,883,808.28 euros refer to payments both in Programs and Measures of the Rural Development Program 2014-2020 (RDP) and in subsidies that farmers will receive through the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027 (CAP).

“The payments of around 2.2 billion euros expected by the end of 2024 to farmers, confirm something extremely important: That for the government of the New Republic, strengthening the primary sector is a primary political choice. Historically, ND’s relationship with farmers is strong. And it becomes stronger with a series of PAA projects and the implementation of the CAP, despite the great bureaucratic difficulties it has in its implementation,” said the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Lefteris Avgenakis, to the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency.

According to the minister in charge, the goal of YPAAT is “a modern primary sector which, with our decisions, we build on strong foundations and with infrastructures that facilitate the work of farmers and, ultimately, contribute to the reduction of producer costs. We firmly believe that a strong peasantry means a strong Greek region, it means a strong Greece as a whole” he said and added “this is even more important in the critical times we are experiencing, as agricultural production is a decisive factor in ensuring food sufficiency and maintaining social cohesion, but also for the economic development of the country. We continue vigorously on the side of the farmers”.

Almost 220 million euros in the third quarter

As it follows from the forecasts of payments by the HYPAAT during the third quarter of the year, the producer farmers will be paid almost 219,255,649 euros.
