hoperakyat.com, – The rice harvest season this time complained farmer in Pangandaran Regency, West Java. The reason is, the price of grain is not comparable to the expenditure of farmers from planting to harvest.
Imas, a rice farmer in Mangunjaya districtPangandaran Regency, said that the price of unhusked rice currently reaches IDR 500,000 to IDR 600,000 per quintal.
“The price is not in accordance with the expectations of the farmers. If the yield from rice plants is indeed comparable, but the expenses are quite large. This is far below expectations,” he said, Tuesday (21/03/2023).
He said, before the rice harvest season arrives, the price of grain reaches Rp. 700 thousand per quintal, maybe even more. If the price does not change then the farmers will not feel a loss.

However, if the price of grain is below Rp. 700 thousand per quintal, it is clear that the farmers complain because it is not balanced with expenses.
“Yes, from working on the rice fields to harvesting, the costs are quite large. Especially for the cost of fertilizer. In addition, fertilizer is also difficult for us to get, “said Imas.
According to him, grain prices have fallen because rice is currently abundant in various regions, due to the simultaneous rice harvest season. This also has an impact on grain prices.
“The price of grain per quintal ranges from 500 thousand rupiah to 600 thousand rupiah. Of course, as farmers, we hope that the price of unhusked rice can rise so that farmers don’t lose out,” concluded Imas. (Ntang/R3/HR-Online/Editor-Eva)
