– The planned blockade of the Anwil production plant organized by agricultural organizations, related to the protest against the rising prices of nitrogen fertilizers, will result in the inability to receive the products manufactured in the company and disruption of the normal operation of the plant. The blockade will directly affect Polish farmers who will not receive the product necessary for their daily work – says the statement of the management board of Anwil.

The statement emphasized that approx. 3,000 people leave the Anwil production plant daily. tonnes of fertilizers, and in the event of the announced blockage, the consequence will be the suspension of the collection of products manufactured in the company, it will be necessary to store them on the premises of the plant.

It was also stated that in accordance with applicable law, the maximum amount of fertilizers that can be stored in warehouses is specified. If the possibility of transporting the final products from the plant is blocked, the current capacity of the warehouses will be exhausted after approx. 12 hours. Such action may lead to a production stoppage, which will limit the availability of fertilizers in the retail market and will result in losses of millions of millions each day. The blockade will also mean difficulties in ongoing development projects, including in the implemented key investment, expansion of the production capacity of the fertilizer production plant.

Representatives of trade unions representing the agricultural sector demand, inter alia, disclosure of data constituting the trade secret of Anwil, i.e. prices contained in sales contracts between Anwil and fertilizer distribution points and the costs of producing one ton of fertilizers. It should be noted that Anwil does not sell directly to individual customers. (…) Fertilizer prices are invariably shaped primarily on the basis of the constantly increasing prices of natural gas on the international market, which accounts for over 70% of the total. production costs, especially of nitrogen fertilizers “- argues the company’s management.

The farmer cannot buy fertilizer

A protest against rising fertilizer prices was announced on Friday. “We are calling you to a joint protest. We will block all large plants controlled by the Treasury that produce fertilizers – not a kilogram of fertilizer can leave them and be transported outside the country” – wrote the leader of AgroUnii in social media.

He added that the protesters should also “demand the introduction of an urgent independent audit that would credibly prove the legitimacy of price increases or exclude price collusion by producers”.

– We also demand from the Polish government a targeted support for farmers to purchase fertilizers, this is the only way to reduce our costs and slow down the increase in prices – said Kołodziejczak.
