Update on January 22, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.:
A declaration of demonstration was filed by several agricultural unions at the Deux-Sèvres prefecture. Several actions are announced around Niort, starting Tuesday January 23, 2024 afternoon. A mobile procession at reduced speed, mainly made up of tractors, is planned from 2:00 p.m. on January 23, 2024. It will leave near the Bessines roundabout, located on Route de La Rochelle. The procession is planned to take the main roads surrounding the town of Niort (route marked in red on the map below):
At the same time, operations aimed at slowing down traffic are announced by the union organizations having declared this demonstration, on the main roundabouts and axes allowing access to the city of Niort, from January 23, 2024 in the afternoon and for the following days (at least until Thursday January 25).
• the roundabout in the Luc area (route de Parthenay)
• the Bessines roundabout (route de La Rochelle)
• the Acclameur roundabout (route de Limoges)
• the Poujoulat roundabout (Route de Sainte)
• the A10 interchange roundabout (route de la Crèche)
• the Buffevent roundabout (Fontenay-le-Comte road)
Also, the prefect of Deux-Sèvres calls on road users to be vigilant on the axes concerned, given the difficult traffic conditions expected around Niort.
Situation update on January 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.:
To guarantee the security of the agricultural events planned around Niort, the prefect of Deux-Sèvres authorized the capture, recording and transmission of images on aircraft of the national gendarmerie from January 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. until the 25th. January 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
Situation update on January 23, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.:
The declaration of demonstration filed by several agricultural unions at the prefecture and the discussions with them allowed the mobile procession to pass safely on the roads serving Niort.
In total, 98 tractors, 68 light vehicles and 200 people participated in this day of mobilization. At this time, no disturbance of public order has been reported.
From this evening, filter barriers are announced by the union organizations (at least until January 25, 2024) having declared this demonstration, on the main roundabouts and axes allowing access to Niort.

To guarantee safety and monitor traffic conditions around these roundabouts, the prefect of Deux-Sèvres has authorized, from Tuesday 2:00 p.m. and until Thursday January 25, 2024 – 6:00 p.m., the capture, recording and capture images on the aerial means of the
National Gendarmerie.
With the support of the Deux-Sèvres Departmental Council, light warning devices will be placed around roundabouts, to call on road users to adapt their speed.
The prefect of Deux-Sèvres thanks the internal security forces who ensured the security of the procession and calls on users to maintain their vigilance on the routes concerned on Wednesday January 24 and Thursday January 25, 2024.
