Farmers block the Constitution: At 18:30 the rally – “Today livestock farming died” (Photos-Video) – 2024-02-20 19:32:53

The Constitution was “flooded” by the tractors of farmers who arrived from every part of the country in order to protest the crumbs of the Mitsotakis government. It is noted that farmers arriving from every corner of Greece are expected to spend the night in Athens.

Farmers have parked their tractors on the sidewalks opposite and in front of the monument to the Unknown Soldier. The presence of police forces is strong, while emergency traffic measures are in force for the center of Athens.

It is noted that shortly after 1:00 in the afternoon, the first tractors that started from Evia started arriving at Syntagma.

At this time, there are dozens of tractors on the National Road which will stop their journey just before entering the center of Athens. Then they will get the green light from the Police in order to move towards the capital.

Traffic regulations

“Due to the movement of the farmers towards the center of Athens, we inform you that within the next hour the Traffic will additionally apply traffic regulations in order to safely carry out both the movement of the farmers and the movement of the rest of the citizens in the area”, he points out with news the Traffic Police informed her.

Due to the passage of tractors on Athens Avenue, there are interruptions on the vertical streets. Traffic is conducted for the rest of the vehicles from the left lane of the Avenue.

Traffic regulations are also expected on Deligiorgi, Piraeus, Stadiou, Filellinon and Xenophontos streets.

ELAS will proceed during the day with vehicle traffic modifications, with:

  • temporary stoppage of traffic on Athens Avenue, Achilleos, Karaiskaki square
  • opposite traffic flow of tractors on Agios Konstantinou Street, Omonoia Square and Panetisopitu to the Syntagma
  • temporary stoppage of traffic around Omonia square
  • traffic stop on Amalia Avenue, Panepistimiou Avenue, Vasilissis Sofia Avenue and all perpendicular streets
  • traffic stop on Vasilissis Sofias Avenue from the height of the Parliament (flow of the descent to Sekeri)
  • traffic flow from the Academy only to the rise of the Empress Sophia

Corresponding modifications based on the above will be made to the routes operated by buses and trolleys on these streets and avenues.

The subway, electric and tram trains have not been announced until Tuesday morning that they will be affected and will run normally.
