A farmer in Heukelom was surprised on Sunday when he went into his field that morning. One of his calves lay dead and mutilated in the grass. According to the police, the calf was cut into pieces by people, after which the perpetrators disposed of the meat.
The farmer made the gruesome discovery on Sunday morning at half past nine. The calf’s neck was cut and the intestine was lying next to it. The man initially assumed that his calf had been attacked by a wolf. But according to a wolf expert, the calf was killed in a different way.
Pieces of meat found on the street
The police were called and officers investigated the site. The police suspect that the animal was killed to eat meat. The perpetrator or perpetrators are said to have fled with the carnage towards Bosscheweg and the N65. According to a spokesman, footprints and pieces of meat were found there. Maybe their car was parked on a hard shoulder.
The police are looking for witnesses who saw more. It is not known exactly when the calf was killed, but at least sometime between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
