As NOS he spoke to several people in Nice about Farioli’s departure and transfer to Ajax. According to sports journalist Maxime Tilliette, who follows the French club on behalf of RMC Sport, the coach wanted to go to Amsterdam immediately. “He is a very romantic football player. He loves the history of Ajax, the way they play. The DNA of a club is really important to him.”
“He taught us his great grit, the will to win,” said 23-year-old forward Evann Guessand, who became an Ivory Coast international in part thanks to his performances under Farioli. I enjoyed working with him because I developed a lot as a player under him.”
Among supporters, who did not find the game under Farioli attractive, Farioli’s departure is not seen as a loss. “We were very surprised when we heard that Ajax were interested in him,” he said. “He’s a good guy and he gave everything to the club, but after they scored a goal the team back en masse.
“We don’t miss him,” the fans continue. “We wish Farioli the best of luck, but it’s good how it went. Now we play much more attractively.”
