Farfán furious after cut wages at Lokomotiv: ‘They want to cheat on me’ | NOW

Jefferson Farfán is unhappy with his club Lokomotiv Moscow’s decision to cut players’ salaries during the corona crisis. The former PSV player does not intend to transfer part of his wages to the Russian club.

“They can play with anything, but they should not take my money,” Farfán said on Saturday in a conversation with former teammate Roberto Guizasola at Alianza Lima during a live stream on his Instagram page.

“They sent me a letter in Russian, but I didn’t understand it at all,” the Peruvian continued. “I tore up the letter right away. They want to cheat on me.”

Lokomotiv had asked the players to hand in 40 percent of their salary so that the other employees within the club can keep their jobs. The players’ council agreed to the measure, but Farfán apparently was not aware of it.

The 35-year-old Farfán, who played for PSV from 2004 to 2008, has been out of circulation for almost a year due to a serious knee injury. His contract with Lokomotiv, which he joined since early 2017, will expire after this season.

The Russian league has been stalled since March 17 due to the corona crisis. Lokomotiv Moscow occupies second place behind FC Zenit.
