MANZANO. Another mourning in the Manzanese for a death following the coronavirus infection. Franco Piani, an insurance agent well known in the local community – and not only – for his work and commitment in the world of associations, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 62.

It didn’t take two weeks in intensive care at the Udine hospital to be able to save him. Owner of the Unipolsai agency in via Marangoni in Udine, he had managed the branch in via Divisione Julia for a long time and among his customers there were many artisans in the area, who in him not only found a professional and a trained consultant, but very often a real friend. This is witnessed by the numerous messages of condolence that the family is receiving in these hours. Always in the insurance branch, he also actively participated in the activities of local associations, primarily the Pro loco Manzano.
«He was also a member of the CAI – explains his wife Daniela Volpato -, he always gave a contribution where he could. He also supported the soccer teams in the area, supporting them with his advertising. He was so busy that he couldn’t even keep up with all the activities. ‘
Everyone remembers him as a jovial man, always with a smile, who loved company and never failed to celebrate when the opportunity arose. “He had a cellar in his home in Rosazzo – continues Volpato -, every occasion was good to toast and let friends taste his wine”.
Born and raised in the same hamlet, he knew people from all over the region thanks to his profession, who never failed to come and say hello. «He was an insurance agent who did not like being behind a desk – his wife continues -, he preferred direct contact with others. He liked public relations. ‘
Due to the anti-contagion restrictions, the family decided to have the funeral celebrated privately in the mortuary of the Udine hospital.
«We prefer not to risk gatherings, we will still thank all those who want to remember him with an affectionate thought».
The latest data relating to the coronavirus infection, communicated by the Civil Protection, show a situation that remains critical in the Manzano area: 105 are, in fact, the positives, compared to 115 who have recovered. With the disappearance of Piani, 8 people have died. –
