Farewell to the Housewife of Voghera: Paola Zanin has died

Voghera says goodbye to Paola Zanin Concati, the lady that everyone in the city knows as the “Housewife of Voghera”, very active in the defense of housewives: in 1996, Paola decided to respond to the famous fellow citizen Alberto Arbasino, to whom is attributed the famous expression that designates the typical lower middle class woman of the post-war period, by founding the Association of Voghera Housewives, of which she was president.

Over the years, Zanin, who passed away at the age of 76, had been a guest on several television programs, showing the positive side of being a housewife and had also taken part in the equal opportunities commission of her city.
“To me, the stereotype of the housewife – writes the mayor of Voghera Paola Garlaschelli – has never conveyed an idea of ​​mediocrity but, on the contrary, the idea of ​​industrious women dedicated to the serenity and well-being of the family. Paola Zanin, as president of the Housewives of Voghera, was a beacon of dedication and strength. Her passion for improving the conditions of women and her tireless commitment to the good of the community made her an admired and respected figure”.

Paola Zanin’s funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 am in the Voghera Cathedral, which today hosts a rosary. “In her ability to listen and understand the daily challenges of simple people – says Mayor Garlaschelli – Paola was unique and her contagious sympathy always did the rest. Today, as we gather around her loved ones and reflect on her life saying “thank you” for being an ambassador on TV and in national newspapers of the often forgotten reasons of housewives, we are comforted to know that Paola Zanin’s impact will continue to live through her work and the love she shared with all of us.”
