“Farewell to Inta Gorodetka: The Untold Story Behind the Refusal to Make a Sequel to “UgunsGreks””

Gorodetka’s “good hand”, editing director Ilze Bētiņa in conversation with “Kas Jauns?” reveals that at the beginning of the year, Inta received an offer to make a sequel to the series “UgunsGreks. The Return”, but she refused it due to lack of time, not health problems. Inta did not announce it, although they had implemented their corrections on a daily basis since the end of last summer.

“Inta didn’t want to talk about it, so she forbade anyone to say it. Those of us who knew had hopes that we would squirm. (..) Inta herself was also very optimistic, she started chemotherapy, everything seemed to be going well,” reveals Bētiņa.

She continues: “When I wanted to talk about upcoming projects a month ago, she wrote that she was on the machines because she had been poisoned by “chemistry”… I understood that it has become difficult for the body to fight the disease… The end was very fast.”

Two weeks ago, Bētiņa received the last text message from Gorodetkas, “It seems that I have the same situation as Andris, get ready…” in her last message to her long-time colleague, whose husband Andris Bētiņš – former operator of the series – died of cancer eight years ago, Inta wrote. Most likely, not Inta, but the resuscitation nurse, who was asked by the director to do it.
