Dr. Stefan Peykov was our greatest specialist in cartography, researcher of spiritual teachings, author of strategic programs for the state

The great scientist, culturologist, documentarian and cartographer – Dr. Stefan Peykov – suddenly left us. Around 4:00 p.m. in Plovdiv during the opening of his last major international exhibition on cartography, presenting Bulgaria and Macedonia, Dr. Peykov literally died in the arms of Prof. Ivan Ilchev, surrounded by historians and public figures. This was reported by witnesses present at the public event. Probably the cause of death was a massive heart attack, until that moment the scientist was in excellent health and in good condition.

Stefan Peikov’s name is primarily associated with the fact that he worked in the second half of the last century together with Lyudmila Zhivkova and Prof. Alexander Fol – as part of various expeditions at home and abroad related to the study of esoteric phenomena and facts.

Stefan Peykov is the founder of the Scientific Expedition Club at UNESCO, and in the Committee for Culture he had a leading role in the implementation of the “Roerich”, “Leonardo da Vinci” projects, as well as the “Peace Flag” International Assembly, also in the Commemoration Program Bulgaria’s 1300th anniversary.

He is the founder and president of the International Trade and Cultural Center GEOPAN. Co-founder of the Bulgarian Cartographic Association.

His contemporaries recall that it was Stefan Peykov who headed the Coordination Center of the Strandja Sakar Program for the revitalization of the border areas with Turkey in the 1980s.

Stefan Peykov was born in 1945 in Gabrovo. Graduated from “Biochemistry” at SU “St. Kliment Ohridski”, but devoted his whole life to the popularization of Bulgarian history and culture.
