After 28 years, Dieter Reinbold ended his work as chairman of SC Freiamt. In the packed Freimter Hof, the club’s annual general meeting was a fitting farewell.
It was already clear from the setting and around 100 guests that there was no normal change of board on the agenda at SC Freiamt that evening. For 28 years, Dieter Reinbold shaped the development of SC Freiamt as chairman, currently one of the largest clubs in Freiamt with 575 members, financially and sportingly successful. “SC Freiamt was poor but sexy 30 years ago,” recalled treasurer Martin Schillinger. We now have sufficient reserves, have largely repaid all loans and even ended the Corona year 2022 with just one event with a record cash balance.
According to the eulogists, this success story of SC Freiamt was achieved primarily thanks to Reinbold’s personality. The football-crazy Bayern fan, who didn’t miss the sports show even on his wedding day, was celebrated with standing ovations several times that evening by those present. The speakers described him as unselfish, loyal, competent or self-effacing, praised his human warmth, his ability to involve and motivate people and praised him as a role model, advisor and friend. Together with his management team, important decisions and investments are made. The club’s coffers were filled, for example, with the purchase of an event tent or the construction of a solar system (back in 2004), with events such as the establishment of the beach party (“the first year was rubbish,” says Reinbold) or the one-week sports week, the loans were also for The investments in the clubhouse and the artificial turf were repaid. “Over all these years, a total of more than 600,000 euros were invested,” said Schillinger.
Reinbold’s ability to direct cooperation was not only limited to SC Freiamt, but also included neighboring clubs. Companion Alfred Haas from the motorsport racing team recalled the decades of close cooperation and the goals achieved together. Markus Striegel, chairman of SV Ottoschwanden, brought the founding of the Freiamt/Ottoschwanden gaming community into focus in 1999. At first it was controversial in the village, but the sporting success was convincing. “Everyone was able to contribute their strengths here for 24 years,” said Striegel, describing the collaboration and thanking his “loved colleague.”
Mayor Hannelore Reinbold-Mench referred, among other things, to the youth work and the integrative power of the association. Arno Heger, district chairman and vice president of the South Baden Football Association, also praised Reinbold’s life’s work, who was also and continues to be involved in the football district. “I don’t want to miss a day of it,” concluded Dieter Reinbold and also thanked his family for their support.
Bernd Kern was unanimously elected as the new chairman. The 54-year-old banker and former deputy chairman has been on the board for 32 years. He didn’t say yes straight away, he explained after the election, but was finally convinced by Dieter Reinbold. He is proud of a “not normal” club that still manages to train youth teams in all age groups and has not only one women’s team, but also three men’s teams with “95 percent of its own players.” Kern invited all members to get involved in “preserving and continuing these values and traditions.”
