“If anything happens to me, you should call Mammukka and Dileep.” Kalabhavan Hanif had sent his son Shahrukh when his health deteriorated. When Shahrukh’s phone reached Dileep yesterday evening, Dileep did not know what to answer. The death news of actor Kalabhavan Hanif was unexpected even for his close friends. A familiar face that was always smiling on the screen. Kochi, where the roots of art are spreading, has lost one more artist.
Hanif Bhai
Hanif, who entered the film industry through small roles, is Hanif bhai for Kochi people. Even though he is in the circle of friends of leading Malayalam stars, Haneef has not been seen in any of the movie crowds. Hanif, who has completed 30 years of his acting career, has only gained friendships from cinema.
∙ Mono act
Hanif got into mimicry by watching a Hindi movie at the Star Theater in Kochi. After watching the movie, Hanif has a program of mimicking the stars in his school class the next day. One day his friend Salahuddin asked if all this could be compiled and presented on stage for the school youth festival. That year he went on stage and presented the program. No mimicry then. There is only monoact. The sound of someone’s voice coming from someone else’s throat was a terrifying event in those days.
He became more active in the art scene through mono act. He was a member of Manorama’s Azad Balajanasakhya. In 1978-1979, the alliance gained first place in mono-act at the State Arts Festival held in Thiruvananthapuram and gained confidence.
∙കലാഭവൻ
He is a neighbor of actor Zainuddin Hanif. Zainuddin took Hanif to Kala Bhavan. Harishree Ashoka and Hanif started performing mime for three and a half hours during the intermission of Kalabhavan’s song mela. After listening to the song for an hour, people start to stir. It was at this time that both of them laughed. As the people cheered and laughed, the song started again. After a while, he got promoted to the Kalabhavan Mimics Parade team. If you walk as a mime, even the wedding will not take place that day. He worked for a few days as a temporary worker in the post office and as a clerk in a parcel company. When he looked for a steady income job, he got a job as a business executive in a hardware store. Saying goodbye to Abelachan, he went down the steps of Kalabhavan. But that name was Hanif’s address throughout his life.
∙സിനിമാപ്രവേശനം
Many people who were with Kalabhavan came to the cinema. Jairam became a star. Then came Zainuddin, Siddique, Lal and Ashok. So when they are coming to the cinema one by one, Hanif naturally has a desire inside. The first film was Chep Kilukana Sanghati. Then small roles started coming. Hanif was of the opinion that if it is a running film, even if it gets one scene, it will be noticed. Hanif soon got the name of Dileep’s lucky actor.
Most of Dileep’s hit films feature Hanif in at least one scene. Pandipada and this flying saucer became Hanif’s brilliant characters. The role of a newcomer who changes his makeup and make-up on the fly is an evergreen comedy scene in Malayalam. Hanif with a Hitler mustache under his nose made the theater laugh. Mammootty was another actor with whom Hanif had a close relationship. Mammootty and Dileep were the central characters in the movie Kammath and Kammath, and it was Hanif who used to speak in a conversing style.
∙മികച്ചവേഷം
Hanif once asked the reporter which role he remembered and gave him a crumpled piece of newspaper from his purse. There was a review in the paper that the actor who played the labor leader in Kamal’s Gramophone had two scenes but his performance was excellent. “In a year, I must have acted in 10 or 20 films. I didn’t feel like it was a shortcoming or a loss. Many people who used to act with me have stopped or dropped out. I’m still standing here. This journey has been going on for 30 years. ”. Hanif would walk back through the little joys and say.
K.S. Prasad: The first thing to say about Hanif is that he was a harmless man. No one has heard anything negative about him in the art world. Most of our work together was on audio cassettes. There are some cassettes where actor Zainuddin, Hanif and I worked together. Hanif came to Kalabhavan in the mid-1990s. On that day, during the intermission of Kalabhavan’s song mela, two people will join together and perform mimicry. Hanif got more opportunity that day. He was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago with shortness of breath and cough. Said goodbye too soon.
