Farewell Ceremony and Biography of Aleksei Avramenko, Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus

“The farewell ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, in the Palace of Railway Employees of Minsk. Its start is planned at 10 o’clock,” the press service informed.

Alexey Nikolayevich Avramenko was born in 1977 in Minsk.

In 1999, he graduated from the Belarusian State Polytechnic Academy, in 2010 – from the Academy of Management with distinction. After finishing his studies, he worked as a foreman of the road construction section No. 43 of the unitary company of the republic “Construction and Installation Trust No. 8”.

From 2000 to 2001, he served as the chief specialist of the road network maintenance department of the Road Committee of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus, from 2001 to 2006 he worked as the chief specialist of the road network maintenance department of Belavtodor Department. Since 2006, Avramenko has worked in various positions in the Transport and Communications Department of the Office of the Council of Ministers of Belarus. In 2012, he headed the transport and communications department of the Council of Ministers apparatus.

Since July 25, 2013, Avramenko held the position of Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus, and from March 3, 2016 – the position of First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications. By Lukashenko’s decree of January 15, 2019, Aleksei Avramenko was appointed the Minister of Transport and Communications of the country.

In the summer of 2021, Avramenko was included in the sanctions lists of the EU, Canada, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and other countries for his involvement in the forced landing of the Ryanair plane carrying Roman Protasevich.

It has already been reported that on November 26 of last year, at the age of 64, the then Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, died suddenly, and was buried on November 29 in the Eastern Cemetery, while in April of this year, the Deputy Minister of Economy of Belarus, Sergey Mityansky, who was 42 years old, died suddenly.
