The speech of the candidate for President Nikolas Faradouris was unifying but also sharp. It began with French poet Paul Valéry’s lines that “nothing grows old faster than a pompous modernity,” leaving clear hints for action by the former president.
He defended himself. Collective decisions, noting that there is no modern party of representative democracy, without a balanced relationship between members – bodies – leadership and he underlined that an end must be put to the castration of bodies.
He spoke about the need for regional reconstruction of the party and for the activation of all members in a two-way relationship with the institutions and the leadership. He made special reference to “the historical need for SYRIZA to come forward with confidence and lead the democratic progressive alliance”.
