Grégory Doucet was the guest this Sunday of the program “C Politique” on France 5.
Asked about the extreme right, the mayor of Lyon considers that it is a “moral duty” to fight against this violence: “These small groups pose threats to the Republic.”
To do so, Grégory Doucet notably requested state aid via letters sent to Emmanuel Macron, to the Ministers of Justice, Éric Dupond-Moretti and of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin.
Through these exchanges, he asked for the closure of the meeting place and the dissolution of the organization which allows these small groups to structure themselves.
On the television channel, the elected ecologist clarified that he will continue the fight as long as it is necessary: “We must not give up, we absolutely must have systematic action.” In addition, he stated that he had already received threats and had filed a complaint: “I decided not to let anything pass. When we can go back to the perpetrators, we go to the trial.”
“The institutionalization of the RN constitutes a threat”
This violence is recurrent since Grégory Doucet evoked the slogans “killer immigrants” heard during the march in tribute to Lola last October or the fights and insults that took place before the France-Morocco match.
A problem that goes far beyond Lyon because the mayor of the capital of Gaul compared the city to Bordeaux, Angers or Lille which also have to deal with such acts: “Many cities are affected by these resurgences of group movements that commit acts of violence.
According to him, we must go to the root of the problem either “the institutionalization of the National Rally” which poses a threat.
