Twenty hooded people tried to enter the amphitheater where LFI deputies Louis Boyard and Carlos Martens Bilongo were meeting students. At the request of the management of the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne, the police intervened.
They’ve been in the news for the past few weeks… despite themselves. Louis Boyard, was violently insulted by Cyril Hanouna on his TPMP program, and Carlos Martens Bilongo, was reprimanded by Médoc deputy RN Grégoire de Fournas, during his speech to the National Assembly on the Ocean Viking’s rescue of migrants .
The two deputies from France Insoumise were this Wednesday, December 7 in Pessac, at 6.30 pm, to meet the students of the University of Bordeaux-Montaigne as part of an operation “The LFI-Nupes is coming to your university”. A conference was then to lead to exchanges on the conditions of student life and the university in general.
Twenty minutes after the start of the meeting, about twenty hooded people armed with iron bars and telescopic sticks tried to enter the amphitheater where the meeting was taking place, shouting racist slogans. Rejected by the carabinieri of the LFI, the carabinieri intervened at 19:30 to disperse them at the request of the University management. The conference and a parallel theater performance were able to go ahead as planned.
“Trivialization of the Far Right”
“These acts of violence, which resemble a punitive expedition, are part of a context of trivialization of the extreme right”, commented the two deputies in a statement. Louis Boyard and Carlos Martens Bilongo asked Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin for “a commensurate reaction to the violence of this attack against far-right groups”.
For his part, the minister reacted with a tweet:
In a press release, the Montaigne University of Bordeaux condemned “these violence and attempts to intimidate the elected representatives of the Republic, of the university, of the freedom to discuss in complete security and of culture”:
“We deeply regret an evolution that appears to be leading us towards a society in which the university could not be the place for peaceful debate on social issues, including those facing students and the university as a whole. The university must remain a place of freedom of discussion and of the production of knowledge open to society, in order to understand the problems it faces and build solutions with it that will make it progress. »
The University of Bordeaux will let you know during the day if a complaint is filed. According to our information, no investigation has been opened.
