– Far across the line – VG

POLICE REPORTED: This message was sent by post addressed to the Secretary General of the Norwegian Ski Association, Ingvild Bretten Berg.

MOLDE (VG) While outgoing ski president Erik Røste (62) took a hard line with incitement and harassment in sports, he showed a letter he considers a threat to one of his closest employees.

The letter was sent to the private address of Ingvild Bretten Berg, Secretary General of the Norwegian Ski Association, and was reported to the police.

– It is far above the line. It is not the case that someone should receive threats in Norwegian skiing. It is unacceptable, says the ski president to VG.

According to Røste, several managers and the entire communications department received a letter with the same wording, in which the sender also asked them to ensure that Bretten Berg followed the message in the letter.

– She is warned against meeting here at Skitinget, said Røste and showed the picture that is at the top of this case.

– Uncomfortable

On Saturday morning, he told the hall during this year’s shit, with around 150 listeners from the association’s various branches and circles, several stories from the sport where employees or people with positions are pressured, harassed and incited.

Settled with harassment and incitement: “Like a dangerous virus that mutates”

The letter to Secretary General Ingvild Bretten Berg was given extra attention.

She meets VG after she has had a review of finances and accounts for 2021 for the district delegates.

– Anyone who receives such a threat will find it unpleasant. In this case, my husband also received a threat and was asked to make sure I do what the threat contains. We chose to report it to the police, says Bretten Berg and continues:

– Then I reckon that those who send such threats take into account that it is unfortunate for the democratic processes and refrain from doing so in the future.

According to the secretary general, the case has been dropped by the police because “not enough information has emerged to identify the perpetrator”.

“Can these people stand outside the gate?”

Bretten Berg has three children. These were the ones she thought of when she read what she had received.

– I immediately thought that “can these people stand outside the gate here one day when the children come home?”. The police quickly denied that they thought it would happen. But it was uncomfortable. A leader should not tolerate everything and this is above acceptable limits for what to tolerate.

Neither Bretten Berg nor Røste will say that the letter can be put in context with their central roles in the so-called jumping brawl where the duo has been in a labor dispute with the national team manager in jumping, Clas Brede Bråthen.

The conflict has for a long time created steep fronts between the jumping branch and the central administration.

They think the letter is part of a composite image.

INTRODUCED SHIT OF THE YEAR: Erik Røste, here in the introductory speech during the shitting in Molde on Saturday.

– Are we really going to feel that way?

Røste also showed a number of other examples from the top of Norwegian sports.

Among other things, how former Rosenborg profile and national team player, Rune Bratseth, according to the ski president resigned as a board member of the Trønder club as a result of incitement.

– Are we really going to feel that way? asked the ski president.

Røste finally proposed and called for the Norwegian Ski Association to adopt a resolution, or make a decision, which clearly and distinctly distances itself from rudeness, bullying and harassment.

The hall responded by getting up from their chairs and clapping for well over a minute after the ski president’s speech.

– I think it was great that he brought up the topic. There is a need for that. We have experienced so much harassment and harassment by employees and shop stewards in the last year. Now we think that is enough, says Bretten Berg.
