Caballero, a mythical name for lovers of motorcycling in a tricolor sauce, especially for those who already have some white hair on their heads and who have loved (or love?) Knobby tires and slightly dirty fairings. Reborn a few years ago in a different but no less fascinating (indeed!) Form, the legendary flagship of the Fantic house is renewed in view of 2021, introducing a Euro 5 engine and many other innovations. New customization possibilities, new set-ups and updated engines concern both the small 125s and the larger 500, while the intermediate 250 cc version leaves the scene next year.

CABALLERO 125

The Caballero dedicated to sixteen-year-olds makes its debut, together with the single-cylinder 4T enduro and motard, the single cylinder Minarelli Euro 5 equipped with electronic injection and Vva variable valve timing. The new cylinder head offers more efficient combustion which translates into more power, less consumption and lower polluting emissions, while the system Variable valve actuation it ensures fluid and full-bodied delivery at all speeds, without jolts or annoying “holes” as the revs go up. Together with the new engine, the slipper clutch also makes its debut, which helps to avoid any locking of the rear wheel in the most abrupt decelerations.

Improvements also in the cooling system, which benefits from upgrades to the expansion tank and radiator, and to the exhaust system, compliant with Euro 5 requirements and equipped with carbon fiber heat protection. As for the controls and ergonomics, the brand new Domino controls and a more comfortable saddle equipped with a quick disassembly system are worth mentioning. Finally, the look: the Scrambler and Flat Track versions, available in Silver or Matt Black colors, are fitted with new side tables, but the “city” and fashionable Deluxe is also added to the range, with its details inspired by the 500cc older sister . CABALLERO 500

With the new year comes the Euro 5 also on the top model of the line-up Caballero, the 500 version that is equipped with a cleaner and at the same time more performing engine than its predecessor. However, homologation in compliance with the most stringent anti-pollution regulations is not the only technical innovation, since the steps forward also affect the electronics, the exhaust system and the cooling system. The liquid-cooled “mono” 450 cc with Efi injection is combined with a gearbox with different ratio spacing, optimized to ensure greater reactivity and an even quicker start.

THE 500: VERSIONS AND PRICES
