Fantasy novel “The Talisman”: Steven Spielberg produces series for Netflix – Kultur

A fantasy novel by Stephen King should serve as a template: US director Steven Spielberg takes over as producer on the Netflix series “The Talisman”.

Los Angeles – US director Steven Spielberg wants to produce a series for the fantasy novel “The Talisman” by Stephen King. In addition to the two, Matt and Ross Duffer are among the producers who celebrated a great success with the mystery series “Stranger Things” set in the 80s.

The control of the Netflix project as showrunner will be taken over by Curtis Gwinn, who was also involved as author and production manager on “Stranger Things”, Spielberg’s company Amblin Entertainment announced on Friday. “The Talisman” tells of a twelve-year-old who wants to save his dying mother and therefore looks for help on a trip through the real USA as well as in a fantasy world, the “Territories”.

Stephen King wrote the book with Peter Straub and published it in 1984. According to “Hollywood Reporter” Spielberg had already secured the rights two years before it was released and since then has been working on a film adaptation.
