LOS ANGELES, iNews.id – Apple-1, computer handcrafted by the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, 45 years ago, will be sold by House Auction John Moran Auctioneers in California, United States, Tuesday (9/11/2021). The computer that became the great-grandfather of the MacBook is still working fine.
John Moran Auctioneers estimates, Apple-1 will be sold at a price of 600,000 US dollars or around Rp. 8.5 billion.
The Apple-1 being auctioned off is one of only 200 computers that Jobs and Wozniak made at the start of the company. From this product, they managed to grow the business to become one of the giant technology companies worth 2 trillion US dollars.
But what makes this auctioned product valuable compared to others is the koa wood cover, a native Hawaiian wood rich in catfish. Few of the 200 units are made with koa wood.
Most Apple-1 computers are sold as component parts. One computer shop received about 50 units and then wrapped some of them with wood.
“It’s kind of a sacred cup for antique electronics and computer collectors. It makes it very appealing to a lot of people,” Apple-1 expert Corey Cohen told The Los Angeles Times.
John Moran Auctioneers stated, the device equipped with the 1986 Panasonic monitor changed hands only twice.
