Pudding from old bread is one of the recipes that were widely prepared when it was necessary to save and process leftovers. Do you sometimes have older bread left that is no longer delicious? Then there is nothing easier than preparing bread pudding, in which you also use other leftovers from the kitchen. The pudding is variable – it is simply another way to make the most of the leftovers and enjoy at the same time.
Combine to taste
You can taste this variable dish as you like. You can change the ingredients as you wish, put more vegetables or sausages on the contrary, and fit everything you love to the pudding. Vegetables, smoked meat, cheese, it’s all up to you. You can find inspiration in the basic recipe.
Bread pudding
What you will need:
- 6 slices of bread
- 6 eggs
- A cup of milk
- Cooked broccoli
- 2 cloves of garlic
- whipping cream
- 100 g of parmesan
- 100 g of bacon
- Salt pepper
- Herbs
How to do it
Preheat the oven to 180 ° C. In the meantime, clear your form. Prepare a pan, pour oil on it and fry the garlic. Then add the cooked broccoli cut into rosettes, pour water over it and let it simmer for 5 minutes. Beat the eggs in a large bowl and pour over the milk and cream. Then add the spices with the herbs and mix thoroughly. Add sliced bread, broccoli with garlic, grated parmesan or bacon to the mixture. Put everything together, pour the entire contents into a mold and you can bake. Bake for about 40-50 minutes until the mixture is golden. You can use the dish as a main course or as a savory pie.
Other ways to use old bread
There are other ways to use old pastries. You can use it, for example, to thicken goulash, if you like Italian cuisine, then it also has a place in thickening some soups. Or prepare fish under the bread crust. This can be easily prepared by grinding old bread, to which you add other ingredients – parsley, lemon zest, garlic. If you like spicy dishes, add chili peppers and ground pepper. Baked salmon in this preparation tastes perfect.
