Fantastic! Latvian Kārlis Bardelis ends his trip around the world by bicycle and boat in Namibia

During the almost eight-year-long adventure, Bardelis has encountered many difficulties and he also had to endure a one-and-a-half-year break due to the restrictions imposed by Covid-19.

A dangerous turn of events occurred when unexpectedly strong winds diverted Bardel’s boat from its target on a beach in Tanzania to the dangerous coast of Somalia. After successfully escaping from the unsafe country, Bardel’s boat will remain in Somalia and was only recovered after long negotiations and a ransom.

On the other hand, in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, Bardeli was almost hit by a huge fishing vessel and the boat was attacked by sharks, but in the turbulent waters of the Indian Ocean, the boat overturned and somersaulted.

During the trip, Bardelis achieved six Guinness World Records and three of them can no longer be beaten. Together with Barkowski, the two became the first team to row across the South Atlantic Ocean. Bardelis also became the first person to row the Pacific Ocean from South America to Asia and the Indian Ocean from Asia to Africa.

Bardelis used the last stages of his world travel adventure to collect funds for the charity organization “Hospiss LV”, which helps terminally ill patients at the end of their lives.

With the slogan “Bored of Borders”, Bardelis started his adventures in 2013, crossing Europe with roller skates from Nordkapp in the North of Europe to its southernmost point in Gibraltar. Since then, Bardelis went on several expeditions before starting to plan his trip around the globe.
